Step 1: I think the most important tool in the design process is communication. I am a natural communicator, with a BS in Sociology. This background helps me easily build rapport with individuals so that I can determine their needs and expectations. Gaining insight from a client helps me build the design brief. After reviewing the brief with the client to get any additional clarification, I begin the research phase. As ideas emerge, I make visual notes through mind-mapping and sketching. At this point, I share some of my ideas with the client to see if I am heading in the right direction. If all is well, I proceed with a couple of drafts. The final stages consist of working closely with the client to refine a final draft.
